Santa Maria del Fiore Sapone da Barba is a very soft traditional Italian shaving soap, some people call this style of soap a "firm cream." It is intended to be used with a shaving brush. You may either scoop out a dollop, place it into a shaving bowl/mug and proceed to bowl-lather or you can load the soap directly onto the brush by gentling swirling a damp brush right on top of the soap in the jar, then proceed to create the lather right on your face. Please note, if you introduce water into the soap, make sure to allow the soap to fully dry prior to covering it again with the lid; if you don't allow the soap to dry you run the risk of ruining it. Kraft labels, although beautiful, are not waterproof so be careful not to damage the label if loading the brush directly on the soap... if you are anal about these things :)
